No doubt you’ll have heard by now that Google is trialling 4 top ad positions on most searches in the Uk, and the trial looks to be in full swing for nearly 6 weeks now.

So what impact is this going to have when vendors search for which letting agent or estate agent to use?

Paid search ads dominate the first fold on all devices meaning why would you need to scroll any further down that first page.

Ad space now looks less like an Ad – CTR (click through rates are increased) as the Google Ads (AdWords) look your organic and blend more with the organic results.

All vendors like offers or a monthly deal or something thats too good to miss – Paid search (AdWords) is the answer.

It’s obvious if you’re not investing in paid search, you should. Now.

Increasing the number of ad positions above the organic results means your customers are going to have to scroll a long way down the page, past some very enticing adverts, before finding your organic result.

Granted, not all searches will return the 4 tops, and in some instances organic results are preferable. But increasingly the searches that have purchase or transactional intent return a results set heavily weighted toward sponsored results.
